Bluejays on a Cherry Tree Branch

The images below are of a painting I completed last winter of two blue jays sitting on a cherry tree branch. I used three 5 x 7 canvas' and framed them in a collage frame. My inspiration for these paintings came from my boyfriend's parents and my grandmother. My grandmother always has birds feeding outside her living room window which she loves to watch. My boyfriend's father is a bird enthusiast and they have a cherry tree growing in their yard. I decided to keep the original painting for myself this time as all my other paintings have been given away. I had my paintings scanned so I could make prints that would go in frames. I shipped framed prints to my grandmother and in laws in Newfoundland.

If anyone is interested in buying a set of prints please contact me.

Cinderella, Cinderella...

I painted one of the mice from Cinderella for one of my good friends daughter. Her bedroom is Cinderella themed and this painting fit right in. I am moving onto some more original paintings now, so please come back and visit next month to see my newest painting.

Paintings for Benjamin

When one of my bestest friends told me she was pregnant, I wanted to do something special for the baby. I decided I would do a painting or several paintings for the baby's room. At first I was thinking about painting three 8x10 paintings of baby animals with an African theme. I was researching how I could draw a lion when I stumbled across some Lion King pictures and I got the idea in my head to paint a bigger picture instead of three small ones. I decided to do three paintings to pull it all together. I think the big picture is done on an 11x14 canvas (not 100% sure) and the two small ones are 8x10.

These paintings were for fun and were only completed to be given away as a gift. I have found painting characters has been good practice at mixing colors doing some shading. I plan on painting a couple more characters for a couple special four year old little girls and then I will be venturing back into more scenic and original work.

I printed the pictures out to match the size of the canvas.

I used a regular lamp to do my best to trace the image onto the canvas as I am not a very good drawer! lol

All three pictures traced onto the canvas.

Now it is time to add color!

And finally all finished!!

Here they are hanging on little Benjamin Luke's bedroom wall!
I hope he will treasure them forever!

Ottawa Senators Logo

Another fun painting I did was the Ottawa Senators logo for my ex-boyfriend Tim for Valentines Day. Hopefully he will keep it because it is pretty cool! I printed the logo off and traced it using a lamp onto my canvas.

Using a regular lamp to trace the image.

Here you can see the traced image on my canvas.

Moving a long...

Almost finished. Just need to touch up the gold and black.

Finished! Of course I can pick out the faults but I was quite happy with it!

 Go Sens Go!  lol

Grinch Painting

Just before Christmas I decided to paint something fun as a gift for a friend. I took an 8x10 board and sketched The Grinch! I wasn't sure how the painting was going to turn out at first but I am happy with how it did. It was a change from the scenic paintings I have done. I spent about three whole evenings on this painting which is not a long time. I put the painting in a simple black frame I bought at Wal-Mart.

Old Family Home

I finished this painting earlier this year. It took me a year off and on to complete. It has quite a bit of significance for me because the house was in my mother's family. The house is located just outside Digby, Nova Scotia. Unfortunately my grandmother was unable to see the painting before I completed it as she passed away last summer.

Enjoy!

Bird in the Garden Painting

I wanted to share with you my newest painting that I finished in May.  The concept came from a calendar of images another artist had done. For this reason I wouldn't be able to reproduce or sell this particular painting, even though they are different in many ways.

This painting was given to my ex-fiance's mother who has beautiful gardens and a white fence as seen in my painting below. It was her mother's day gift this year. Part of me so very badly wanted to keep it for myself when the break up happened, but my feeling toward his mother  have nothing to do with my relationship with him so I still gave her the painting.

The lighting was not very good when I took the picture but I hope you enjoy it!

Gros Morne Painting

When I was in high school I took a few painting classes but I didn't keep with it. Now that I am 25..I decided I wanted to take up painting as a hobby as I throughly enjoy it. In the fall of 2011 I completed an 8 week painting class with Perry Kieley, a local artist here in Gander, Newfoundland. Below you can see my first finished painting that is now hanging on my dad's wall in Pasadena. I wanted to paint this picture because Gros Morne Mountain is sitting in the background and my dad and I climbed it together in 2010.

I am currently taking more lessons and I am working on two more paintings that I will share when they are complete!

Enjoy!
